The Story
Eve began acting professionally at age 9 and and fell in love with the idea that she could be anyone she wanted to be. Sometimes it was a problem, like that year she convinced the entire forth grade she was a wolf-witch. Plagued by night terrors, she developed a blood-curdling scream to scare away monsters. She prepared for nightmares by studying the textures of her voice until she was certain she could either scream the demons to death or sing them to sleep. Eve developed a passion for human rights and chaired her high school’s chapter of amnesty international. She took the injustice in the world personally, volunteering and campaigning relentlessly.
Eve received a Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship for social activism and majored in Acting at NYU. There and in the gritty bars of the East Village, she found herself more suited for non-traditional performance than a lifetime of going to auditions and waiting for the phone to ring. She found a practical use for her unique voice, channeling her fears and experiences into music while learning to play guitar. The East Village art scene became her home and she picked up a side hustle as a fire swallower and horror movie actress. It was dangerous but Eve already knew the breathing techniques to control demons. Fire was a piece of cake.
Her music tells of the demons, once imagined and later sought out, that live in life's darkest corners and her constant desire to find beauty within their stories. Mississippi Delta Blues meld with the 1960's folk revival and a Brothers Grimm sentiment, creating a steamy, Southern sound with charming twists of humor. Steady grooves balance the haunting vocals, creating a sound that is gritty and primal balanced by a tranquil innocence that comes from deep within her heart. She fights for social justice by singing stories that challenge preconceived ideas and allowing listeners to experience worlds different than their own. She is often compared to Kate Bush, PJ Harvey and “a female Nick Cave.”
Eve performs both solo and with a variety of other artists and projects including Knife Thrower’s Assistance, Eve and the Alligators, Anacoustic Mind and the Pete Lago Blues Trio. She has toured the US, Canada, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the Basque Country, highlights of which include the Edinborough Fringe Festival, opening for Jose Feliciano, and singing backup for Alan Merril, author of the legendary song “I Love Rock’n’Roll.” Theater credits include Helena in Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and the first witch in MacBeth with Gorilla Rep’s Shakespeare in the Park as well as Kate in the cult film “Gothkill.” She is working on her third album.
